The Northwest Pennsylvania Area Health Education Center (NW PA AHEC) is a non-profit organization committed to helping communities in Northwest Pennsylvania meet their primary health care needs and enhance the quality of health in our region especially the rural and underserved communities. We maintain partnerships with community, government, and educational agencies and institutions that will connect students to careers, professionals to communities and communities to better health.
Through its funding and network resources, the NW PA AHEC works to improve the health of our communities by developing an interdisciplinary workforce by increasing the number of individuals from minorities and underserved communities who enter primary care and allied health professions and promoting and providing continuing professional education to primary care providers. In addition, we provide technical assistance in the evaluation and assessment of the public health needs of communities within the NW PA region and supplies innovative, multi-disciplinary responses to those needs.
